Tributes and Memorials

Liriodendron tulipifera Accession Number: 2009_03809*AA gift to the Purdue Arboretum may serve as a lasting tribute to a friend, co-worker, or family member.

Standards have been established for Memorial Tree Plantings requested by a donor or donor group. To cover the costs of the tree, labor to plant the tree, and watering for the first season to insure establishment, we are requesting a $1,000 dollar donation. It is campus policy not to include a plaque with a Memorial Tree Planting, however, all memorial trees are kept on file in a database so they may be located upon request. We encourage donors to be on-site the day of the planting so photos can be taken. Donations of $10,000 or more will be recognized physically in a manner deemed appropriate by the Grounds Department, i.e. plaque in the vicinity of the location of the Memorial Tree.

All Memorial Tree Donations should be paid by check, made out to the “Purdue Foundation” and mailed to:

Purdue University, Physical Facilities Fiscal Affairs
Attn: Angela Nobile
6775 S. Ahlers Drive
West Lafayette, IN 47907

Upon receipt of the donation, the Grounds Dept. landscape architect will be notified and the donor will be contacted to begin the process of determining an appropriate location, species of tree, and the memorial date. Please note that the Purdue West Lafayette campus is an ever-evolving space and every attempt to protect all memorial trees from any unknown future construction will be performed. However, there is a risk that a memorial tree may need to be moved or replaced.
