tiny yellowish flowers born to catkins
Fruit Notes:
Catkins are produced either at the same time the leaves emerge or shortly after. Capsules containing numerous seeds are then spread by wind or water.
Soil Notes:
Prefers moist soils, pH adaptable, but not tolerant of shallow, chalky soils.
Diagnostic Characteristics:
Intense silvery gray, narrow leaves that maintain color through the summer.
