Diagnostic Characteristics:
Leaves simple, opposite or in whorls of 3's, ovate, 3-6" long and 1.5-3" wide, acuminate, rounded or tapered at base, toothed. Setose pubescent beneath, especially on veins. Older bark often peeling, exposing lighter grays.
