Foliage Notes:
Green (Dark green summer foliage that leafs out later in spring than other variants); Red (Attractive orangish-red fall color with leaves persisting longer into fall than other variants)
Diagnostic Characteristics:
Leaves are opposite, pinnately compound, 12" long with 5-9 leaflets (usually 7). Leaflet apex often with remote serrations. Petioles not grooved and are flat across top of leaf scar (vasculature still U-shaped). Bark deeply furrowed into diamond pattern. 'Summit' tends to resemble Fraxinus americana morphologically.
