 Diagnostic Characteristics:
Leaves (3.5-7.5" long by 1 to 2.25" wide) are simple, alternate, oblong, and have long bristle like teeth around margin. Emerging foliage is pubescent, but mature leaves are glabrous, except for axillary tufts underneath.

Transplants easily. May develop chlorosis on high pH soils.
