Shrub Prunus laurocerasus 'Otto Luyken' [Otto Luyken Cherry Laurel] 'Otto Luyken' is a broad, compact evergreen shrub that produces numerous small, fragrant, white flowers in upright clusters in mid to late spring. This plant is shade tolerant, pH adaptable, and salt spray tolerant, but requires good drainage. Do not over fertilize.

This tree gained its specific epithet name, "falcata", from the sickle-like weapon of the same name, in reference to the sickle-shaped lobes of the leaves. Root disturbance is known to severely affect this species, and can lead to decline or death.

However, It does require proper drainage. It also has very attactive exfoliating bark with a amber tone.
