Shrub Tsuga canadensis 'Jeddeloh' [Dwarf Canadian Hemlock] The Jeddeloh Canadian Hemlock is an interesting, mounded, dwarf cultivar that forms a cascade of weeping branches. Adaptable plant, tolerant of both shade and alkaline soils. Foliage browns in dry soil, drying wind, and winter sun in very exposed sites. Does not tolerate long periods of drought. Can be scorched by full sun and temperatures above 95 degrees F. Many minor pest problems, with wooly aldelgids being especially serious in the Northeast US.

Tree Tsuga caroliniana [Carolina Hemlock] Slower growth than Tsuga canadensis and less variable in size and form. Performs better under city conditions than T. canadensis. Still, like T. canadensis, foliage browns in dry soil, drying wind, and winter sun in very exposed sites, and it does not tolerate long periods of drought. Can be scorched by full sun and temperatures above 95 degrees F. Many different kinds of minor pest problems.
Tree Ulmus americana 'New Harmony' [New Harmony Elm] 'New Harmony' is a cultivar of American elm, it has a vigerous growth rate and a more narrow vase shape than other varieties. It has great disease tolerance of Dutch Elm Disease (DED).
Tree Ulmus americana 'Princeton' [Princeton American Elm] This American Elm cultivar retains the attractive vase-shaped form that the American Elm is known for and has some resistance to both the elm leaf beetle and Dutch Elm Disease, which is caused by Ophiostoma ulmi. (Dutch Elm Disease has lead to the near extinction of the American Elm in the US). Many other diseases can cause damage to this cultivar, though.
Tree Ulmus americana 'Valley Forge' [Valley Forge American Elm] This cultivar has the classic vase-like form and ascending branches that the American elm is know for, while also having the best Dutch elm disease resistance of the new "Dutch elm resistant" cultivars. Important to stake when young.
Tree Ulmus davidiana var Japonica 'Morton' [sold as Accolade®] [Accolade Elm] Very good resistance to the Dutch elm disease pathogen, Ophiostoma ulmi, which has led to the near extinction of the American Elm (Ulmus americana) in the U.S. Also has good resistance against phloem necrosis, elm leaf beetle, and leaf miner.
Tree Ulmus davidiana var. japonica 'Prospector' [Prospector Elm] 'Prospector' is a cultivar with an excellent resistance to Dutch elm disease (DED) and smaller than american varieties. It is fast growing and requires maintainance to keep its vase shape, but works well as a street tree. It has showy emerging leaves and a brilliant yellow fall color.
Tree Ulmus × 'Frontier' [Frontier Elm] Small tree that grows well under city conditions. Good Dutch elm disease resistance and moderate elm leaf beetle resistance.
Tree Ulmus × hollandica 'Groeneveld' [Groeneveld Dutch Elm] Dense, regular branching. Resistant to Dutch Elm Disease. Wind tolerant.
