 Diagnostic Characteristics:
Leaves are grass-like, somewhat flat, broad linear and green ranging from 1/4" to 1/2" wide growing in a dense clump. These leaves are semi evergreen in warm winter climates but they typically disappear in cool to cold winter climates once the temperatures fall below 25 degrees F. Flowers rise above the leaves during mid summer reaching up to 24" tall. They are usually pink to pale purple in color. Flowering generally occurs from mid to late summer and sometimes into early fall.

Additional Information

German garlic, also known as mountain garlic, is an ornamental onion that is grass like with flattened, braod leaves. It usually grows in dense clumps that are between 6 and 12 inches tall.
