 Diagnostic Characteristics:
Grows in clumps to about 8 inches to 1 foot tall. It can be semi-evergreen in winter months. The leaf blades are only 1/8 of inch wide. Sedge is monoecious. _Carex_ has over 1,500 species. Can have problems with leaf spot, smut, and rust.

Additional Information

Sedge will self-seed in good conditions and is rhizomatous. Native to Eastern and Central North America, stretching from Quebec down to Mississippi. It has a creeping habit and will form colonies.
