 Diagnostic Characteristics:
Leaves are alternate, simple, doubly and coarsely serrate, ovate, and 2-4" long by 1.3-2.6" wide. The upper surface is glabrous; lower surface is pubescent on veination. Buds are brown-black, glossy, imbricate, and pointed. Bark is chalky white and exfoliating.

Additional Information

Betula papyrifera 'Renci' is faster growing and more heat resistant than the straight species. This tree requires full sun and is not suitable for poor or polluted city conditions.
