Glossy dark leaves are 3-6" long by 1-3" wide and simple and alternate, unequal at base (oblique), doubly serrate with 13-18 parallel veins from midvein to the teeth. Buds are adpressed against stalk and appear stalked.

    This cultivar has the classic vase-like form and ascending branches that the American elm is know for, while also having the best Dutch elm disease resistance of the new "Dutch elm resistant" cultivars. Important to stake when young.
