Diagnostic Characteristics:
Needles (0.3" long) in whorls of 3, linear lanceolate, spiny pointed, glaucous with a green midrib toward apex on top (adaxial) surface. Lower surface (abaxial) bluish has 2 white spots near base below from which 2 glaucous lines run down the edges of the pulvini. Branch tips ascend 20-30 degrees from the ground.
