Diagnostic Characteristics:
Leaves are alternate, simple, narrow, cuneate, oblanceolate, oblong-obovate, serrulate towards the apex, dark-bluish in color above, glaucous beneath at 2-4" in length and 1/8" in width. Buds are described as appressed, glabrous, and have a purple hue. Flowers are catkins nearing 1" in length, yellowish-white in color that gives way to small brown capsules.
