Reddish-purple flowers in umbels in mid spring (around April), not ornamentally significant
 Foliage Notes:
Leaves are palmate with 7-11 deeply dissected and incised lobes cut nearly to the leaf base. Leaves are green in the spring/summer; and turn golden yellow in fall with streaks of orange and red.
 Stem Notes:
Stem color ranges from green to a muted red to silver/gray with maturity. Mature bark is smooth and slender.

Pink-tipped light green paired winged samaras emerge after flowering in the spring

Additional Information

Best grown in moist, well-drained, organic soils. Avoid hot, dry, or excessively windy sites. New foliage may scorch in full sun location. Chlorosis may occur in high pH soils. Pruning should be kept to a minimum as it often results in significant bleeding especially in the spring/summer. The 'Waterfall' variety is a weeping cultivar that displays cascading branching.
