Flower Notes:
Small, dense spikelets arranged in terminal compound umbels.
Foliage Notes:
Grass-like, long, flat leaves up to 1/2" wide that turn yellow-tan in fall.
Stem Notes:
Stout, unbranched, leafy culms with a distinctly triangular cross-section.
Fruit Notes:
Tiny three-angled achenes mature in late summer and persist into autumn.
Soil Notes:
Best grown in wet clay, mucky, or sandy soils and tolerates standing water and periodic flooding.
