The flower buds for the following year are formed in the summer, so if pruning is desired, it should be completed immediately after flowering.

The Doublefire Viburnum is fertile and more commonly used in the landscape than the sterile Japanese Snowball Viburnum (Viburnum plicatum f. plicatum).
