The glossy leaves (2-4" long) are opposite, simple, ovate, and finely toothed with an abrupt point. The petiole is winged. Vegetative buds are long (up to 1") and slender, and the flower buds tend to be a little longer and are wide at the base.

Additional Information

The Nannybery can be grown as a large, suckering shrub or small tree and is noted for its white flower cymes and edible berries. The flower buds for the following year are formed in the summer, so if pruning is desired, it should be completed immediately after flowering.
