Leaves are opposite, simple, somewhat rounded, 2-4.5" long and 1-4" wide, coarsely dentate, often with hairs in the axils underneath. Small, lower bud scale forms a V-shaped notch.

Additional Information

Can look ragged in dry soil. Flowers malodorous to some. Attractive to birds. Name derived from Native American use of strong sucker shoots for arrow shafts. The most durable of viburnums. Serves as a nice neutral background shrub.
