Flower Notes:
Red (Excellent red flowering in spring (many different colored cultivars available))
Foliage Notes:
Green (Glossy foliage becoming progressively darker green through the summer; no fall color, leaves drop green)
Fruit Notes:
Yellow (Edible pale green to yellow fruits are visually interesting but rarely abundant)
Soil Notes:
Prefers well-drained, loamy soils, but widely adapted to different soils
Diagnostic Characteristics:
Leaves (1.5-3.5" long) are alternate, simple, ovate to oblong, sharply serrate, and lustrous dark green above. Stipules are large and occur on current season's growth. The apple-like pome fruit (quince) is 2-2.5" wide and yellow-green with small, glandular specks.
