Flower Notes:
Red;white (Buds dark red; flowers are fragrant, 1.4" across, pinkish white to white, in clusters, and generally annual; late April to May)

Green (Glossy deep green summer foliage); Yellow (Fall color not ornamentally important)

Red (Numerous 0.5" dia., bright red crabapples (pomes); persistent)

Diagnostic Characteristics:
Simple leaves in clusters on short spurs. Buds have several imbricate scales and are usually reddish-brown with hairs protruding under scales. Fruits have multiple seeds (as compared to the single seed pit of Prunus species). The bark of mature trees is gray to brown and scaly.
