 Diagnostic Characteristics:
Needles (0.75-2" long) in pairs and are curved or twisted with stomata on both the upper and lower surfaces. Forward pointing cones are 1-2.5" long by 0.75" wide. Bark is dark and flaky when younger, becoming furrowed with age.

Additional Information

This pine is quite hardy and can grow on poor soil, however, given its scrubby and somewhat unkempt appearance, it is not generally recommended for ornamental use. Pyramidal when young, becoming flat-topped and spreading with maturity.
