 Diagnostic Characteristics:
Leaves (4-10" long) are alternate, simple, and oblong-obovate. Leaf shaped like a fiddle, with an expanded lobed blade at the apex, and narrow more-deeply lobed blade at the base. Brownish, ovoid, imbricate buds with a pale pubescence. Acorn (0.75-1.5") has a fringed cap that covers 50% or more of the nut.

Additional Information

More tolerant of city conditions than most oaks. Perhaps too large for a typical residential landscape when mature.
