 Diagnostic Characteristics:
Leaves are opposite, 2.5-4" long and half as wide, sharply and doubly serrate, and silky beneath with distinctly parallel and ribbed veins. Stems shiny green when young.

Additional Information

Relatively trouble-free. Tolerant of a variety of soils and environments, particularly dryness and shade. Commonly becomes straggly if growing in a site that is too dry or too wet.
