Diagnostic Characteristics:

Mostly scale-like leaves (<0.2" long), usually in pairs, sharp pointed, and 4-ranked. Long ascending branches with numerous upward projecting branchlets. Plant is more mounded in the center and has a feathery appearance due to densely set branchlets.

'Emerald Spreader' is a very low-growing (7" tall) and wide-spreading shrub with dense branchlets of emerald green foliage. Would function well as a groundcover. Widely adapted to soils and climates. Tolerates slightly alkaline and heavy clay soils, but not wet soils. Young plants can be seriously injured by Phomopsis blight in some areas. Plants of all ages are susceptible to mite infestation.
