 Diagnostic Characteristics:
Leaves are alternate, simple, ovate or obovate (0.75-2.5" long and 0.3-1.3" wide), unequally rounded at base (but not so oblique as in other elms), serrated, and pubescent underneath when young. Highly mottled bark.

Additional Information

This cultivar has a tight, columnar habit and holds this form into maturity. Stunning, multi-colored mottled and exfoliating bark. Grows well under city conditions. Good resistance against Dutch elm disease, elm leaf beetle, and Japanese beetle. Slightly weak wooded, so sometimes damaged by ice storms.
