Diagnostic Characteristics:
Bluish-gray to bluish-green overlapping, curved, awl-shaped leaves (1/8-1/6" long) in whorls of 3 and with 2 gray to white bands. Ellipsoidal cone (0.25-0.3" long) contains a single ridged seed.
'Blue Carpet' is a low-growing and spreading shrub with attractive bluish-gray foliage. This plant gained its common name from the single seed borne by each cone. Widely adapted to soils and climates. Does well in alkaline soils, but not wet soils. Susceptible to bagworms.
