Green (Lustrous light green evergreen needles)
Soil Notes:
Prefers moderately moist, sandy, acid, well-drained soil; grows fine in average soil if it has sufficient moisture
Diagnostic Characteristics:
Rhombic needle in cross-section, broad sides having 2-3 lightly colored waxy lines. Needles (1" long) overlap on top and point forward, and spread on bottom exposing stem. Pendulous cones to 6" long and persist through winter. Young cones can be slightly purplish in color. Reddish to light brown buds have spreading tips (in a rosette) and are not resinous.
