The golden leaves are awl-like (0.08-0.13" long) with whitish lines beneath, produced on drooping, thread-like, 2-ranked branchlets. Needles softer than junipers. Small, yellowish-brown, pea-like cones (0.25" dia.) with 6-8 scales, and shrunken center. Reddish-brown bark peels off in thin strips.

Additional Information

The Golden Threadleaf Sawara Falsecypress has distinctly yellow, very fine-textured, drooping foliage and branches. While this slow-growing plant may eventually reach 15-20' tall, it will likely take well over 20 years to reach that point. 'Filifera Aurea' can grow in average soils, as long as they are well-drained. Provide shelter from the wind.
