Small, bright yellow flower heads arranged in flat-topped terminal clusters.
Foliage Notes:
Grass-like, narrow, alternate leaves with 3 to 5 parallel veins and little to no fall color.
Stem Notes:
Slender, erect, branching near the top, hairless to slightly puberulent.
Fruit Notes:
Tiny achenes with small tufts of pale hair for wind dispersal in autumn.
Soil Notes:
Best grown in moist, poorly drained soils but tolerates occasional dryness.
Range:
Canada and northern to central United States.
