 Diagnostic Characteristics:
Elliptic-ovate to oblong-ovate alternate leaves are 3-5" long and 1.5-2.5" wide, sharply serrate. Rounded to subcordate at base. Petioles have 2-4 glands near base (larger glands than Prunus serotina). The Columnar Sargent Cherry has a more columnar to oval-vase shape than the straight species.

Additional Information

One of the better performing and useful cherries available. This cultivar is known for its very upright, vase-shaped, and somewhat columnar form. Beautiful, polished reddish to chestnut brown bark on older trunks. Subject to several minor pests, none usually serious.
