Palmately compound leaf has 5-7 leaflets, each 3-8" long, medium to dark green, grayish and pubescent below. Deep red, pubescent petioles are 3-5" long. Stout stems with large leaf scar half encircling the bud. Raised light brown lenticels on stems.
