Flower Notes:
Yellow (Yellow flowers (0.3" dia.) are not especially effective)
Foliage Notes:
Red-Violet (New leaves emerge a reddish-purple late in the spring); Green (Summer foliage is blue-green); Multi-Colored (The red, orange, and yellow fall foliage is quite attractive)
Fruit Notes:
Pink (Large (14" long by 11" wide) pink fruiting panicles, effective in the summer and into the fall)
Soil Notes:
Very adaptable to soils and pH and tolerates some drought
Diagnostic Characteristics:
Alternate, simple, quite oval leaves (4-6" long by 3" wide) have parallel veination. Purplish coloration around leaf scar. Crushed stems have strong odor. Stems are glabrous with a number of small lenticels.
