Flower panicles are showy, are are quite long and will turn from yellow to beige. Seed plumes will stay attached into the winter months adding texture to the winter landscape. Occasional problems with rust in hot and humid climates. Insects that may cause problems are Japanese beetles, thrips, and spider mites.

Additional Information

Switch Grass is native to Missouri prairies. 'Northwind' is more compact han the straight species and more vertical in comparison.
