Diagnostic Characteristics:

Needles (0.8-1.2" long) are slightly flattened, and arranged in a cone-like (pectinate) fashion. Needles create a slight V-shape when viewed down tip. Two faint waxy lines on needle underside. Buds (0.25- 0.3" long) are shiny and chestnut brown. Cones (2-4" long) have distinct forked bracts protruding from under scales.
