 Diagnostic Characteristics:
Leaves (4-6.5" long) are alternate, simple, oblong-lanceolate, coarsely toothed (8-13 pairs of incurved teeth). Light brown or pale margined, ovoid, imbricate buds. Acorn (0.75-1.5") has a thin cap that covers up to 50% of nut.

More tolerant of city conditions than most oaks.
