 Diagnostic Characteristics:
Leaves (3-6" long) opposite, trifoliate (each 2-2.5" long and half as wide), coarse-toothed. Middle leaflet short-stalked and lateral leaflets almost sessile. Buds (0.13-0.25" long) are sharply pointed. Stem develops exfoliation during second and third year, older bark very exfoliated and beautiful.

Additional Information

Slow growth (6-12" per year) is compensated for by longevity and freedom from maintenance. The cinnamon-brown, curly bark is outstanding. Habit is open enough to display bark interest year-round.
