Flower Notes:
White (4-petalled white flowers in large 8-12" bottle-brush-like clusters (panicles) appearing in midsummer; last of Aesculus to flower)
Foliage Notes:
Green (Palmately compound medium green leaves in summer); Yellow (Under the right conditions, can develop a nice yellow fall color)
Stem Notes:
Brown (Gray-brown, stout)
Fruit Notes:
Brown (Smooth-surfaced fruits are poisonous, but rarely occur)
Soil Notes:
Adaptable to pH, but prefers slight soil acidity

Diagnostic Characteristics:
Palmately compound leaf has 5-7 leaflets, each 3-8" long, medium to dark green, grayish and pubescent below. Deep red, pubescent petioles are 3-5" long. Stout stems with large leaf scar half encircling the bud. Raised light brown lenticels on stems.
