 Diagnostic Characteristics:
The leathery, wrinkled leaves (2-5" long by 1.5-4" wide) are opposite, simple, and ovate, with regular, slightly dentate margins and stellate hairs on the upper and lower surfaces. The buds are large, coarse, and naked with gray tomentose. Young stems have scruffy pubescence and mature stems have numerous lenticels.

Additional Information

The Wayfaringtree is a coarse-textured large shrub noted for its abundance of showy flowers and colorful fruits. Plant in groups with different clones for best fruit set. Has escaped cultivation and naturalized in some areas of the United States.
